Dr Ang Yong Guan is a Singaporean psychiatrist with over 40 years' experience in the specialty. He practises at Ang Yong Guan Psychiatry along Orchard Road. He obtained his MBBS degree from the University Of Singapore in 1979, MRCP (UK) from RCPsych, United Kingdom in 1986 and FAMS (Psych) from the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1997.

He served as a psychiatrist at the SAF Military Medicine Institute from January 1986 to January 2003.

Ang is a member of the Singapore Medical Council. Some of the services he provides are:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Treatment of depression
  • Treatment of antisocial behaviour
  • Treatment of anxiety disorders
  • Treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

Ang is a member of the SingFirst (Singaporeans First) political party. He ran as a candidate for the party during the 2015 General Elections. On Sunday, 7 September 2015, during the hustings for the General Elections, he announced:

"We will push for referendum on these issues. Another example is Section 377A. We respect the diverse views on these issues. These are moralistic issues. Issues where people hold strong views. And the only way to sort it out is to have a referendum. We need to have open debate to discuss these issues. And we need to embrace diversity. We can no longer make assumptions for people. Referendum is the way forward!"
