Dorothy's, also known as Dorothy's Bar, is a gay bar located at 13A Trengganu Street, Singapore 058467. Telephone number: 6221-6806.
It took over the authentic 1950s shophouse-style premises in 2015 after Backstage Bar relocated to Neil Road.
It carried on Backstage Bar's tradition of proudly displaying a rainbow flag outside its premises. A brand new one was hung from the balcony in early June 2018. Besides this flag, Dorothy's upped the ante and hung Singapore's largest rainbow flag, a specially hand-sewn one, on the ceiling of its second level.
Dorothy's also carries on Backstage's theme of being an East-meets-West bar where Caucasians can meet their Asian counterparts. The terraces on the second floor overlook the crowds of Chinatown - a great escape in the heart of the city.
The Chinatown MRT station is less than a 3-minute walk away.
All major buses from town stop at South Bridge Road or Eu Tong Sen Street which are the two main roads either side of the bar. One merely needs to head down Temple Street and look for the rainbow flag.
The general manager is Jimmy and his team consists of Gaston, Keavan and Khai, Sam, Jayden and BK. The staff, who are kind, discreet and efficient, welcome all guests, gay and straight alike. The bartender is reputedly able to remember patrons' drinks preferences and can serve them their favourites on their repeat visits. The entire atmosphere with its warm hospitality makes one feel welcome.
Happy hours start before 8pm. There are drink promotions all night long unless otherwise stated. Open hours as stated above. On the last Sunday of every month, the bar opens at 3pm. On the eve of public holidays, it closes at 2am.
