Leon Cheo is a Singaporean filmmaker.
Cheo was the writer and director of Singapore's first and Emmy-nominated LGBT short form or web series, People Like Us (2016) and the short LGBT-themed films Four Dishes (2008) and Swing (2010).
His movie SIN-SFO won the Best Live Action and Best Director honours at the 2019 National Youth Film Awards in Singapore and premiered in-competition at the Academy Award-qualifying 25th Austin Film Festival.
His latest work, "302", along with "SIN-SFO" and "Two Is Enough" will complete a trilogy of short films about the human consequence and impact of policy.
Most recently, he was one of the ten filmmakers selected for the Hillman Grad / Indeed Rising Voices program in which he is mentored by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi, Just Mercy, Short Term 12) to make Cheo’s latest short film “The 25th Filial Exemplar” which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2022.
