The SSR Foundation was set up in October 2001, to continue with the work of Late Emeritus Professor S Shan Ratnam, to look after the welfare of women and the unborn child and also to upgrade the knowledge of the obstetricians and gynaecologists of the developing world, especially of the members states of AOFOG .The foundation offers high-end investigation and care for both the women and the unborn child under one roof at low cost, especially for the women of the Asia-Pacific region. It also provides teaching programmes in foetal medicine and high-end sonology in obstetrics and gynaecology. The Foundation also conducts workshops in fetal medicine and imaging in O&G in developing countries once every four months.
