"Do what you love. Love what you do." That is the mantra that drives Tan everyday. Having spent 20 years in marketing and media, and armed with a wealth of experience in traditional advertising, brand and digital marketing, he came to realise that scaling the corporate ladder was no longer something that interested him. He decided to give up his last role as Chief Marketing Officer to pursue things that really interested him – real estate and fitness.
Tan's path into the real estate industry arose out of his love for stylish home interiors and spotting real estate gems in the market. Many of his friends often commented that he had a gift for real estate and should pursue it professionally. At that moment, he was not totally convinced himself but since he had personally profited from his previous properties and was featured in interior magazines like Square Room, Home & Décor and the The Straits Times for his interior, he thought, “Why not?”, and the rest was history.
Never a fan of high pressure sales tactics, or template solutions, Tan believes that real estate advisory is not "one size fits all". Every client has his/her own unique needs and financial status, and his role as a realtor is to tailor a custom strategy to help them achieve their goals – be it a dream home or a property for investment.
Tan likes to be honest and candid with all his clients and will only recommend properties he feels is a good investment and matches his clients’ needs. To him, real estate business is not only about making that one single sale with a client. He likes to assure that his clients are enjoying their properties and he is always there along the way to help them with anything from design/renovation to monitoring their property value when it is time to make a profit from it. He believes in developing great long term relationship with clients built on integrity, trust and a genuine friendship.
Tan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. He has worked with a diverse portfolio of clients in the FMCGs, fashion and luxury lifestyle industries, during his marketing career with some of the leading international and local magazines like Esquire, August Man, Prestige, Her World and Female, just to name a few.
A firm believer in health and well-being, he likes to spend his off-duty hours working out at the gym and freelancing as a certified fitness instructor. HeI was once a fashion fanatic who splurged on designer labels, shoes and bags. While he appreciates a well tailored suit, he would much prefer to put his money into investments like property for capital gains. He feels that there is nothing more satisfying then to coming back to a place one can call one's home.

During Pride month in June 2023, Tan dedicated the following video to share his coming out story as a gay man in Singapore - from how he came to realise he was gay, wishing to move away of Singapore, and eventually coming out to his family. Starting a new career in real estate during mid-life, he found a new purpose when he realised he was able to help other LGBTQ+ individuals who were struggling to find their way in their home ownership journey. He hoped that by sharing the video, it would inspire more LGBTQ+ Singaporeans to come to love themselves, to find their moment to come out, and to never stop working towards finding a home of their own[2].
